Combines wore out return sprocket

Running the return elevator chain loose will do that. It seems as though we check ours every couple days. We used to run pretty tight but then heard of some guys breaking auger shafts. By the way, was the sprocket chromeIJ Seems we made it 1,000 sep hours when tightened a little every couple of days and had chrome sprockets. At least I think they are chrome sprockets I know we have them on the clean elevator chain. Regular steel sprokets never make it very long.

We have chrome sprockets, and we've done about 1400 hrs. in our '94 R-62. Keeping in mind we only harvest cereals, which isn't real hard on the machine. The returns seems to need more attention than the clean grain, and like yourself, have found that it will last a lot longer than the returns. Cheers, Silver aussie
