I agree, just start using cornhead grease. What the n0 has over the n2 is it is "flowable" so it will flow in around the gears. The heavier grease can "channel" to where the gears could be rotating within a grease channel and not getting lubricated. Probably with what light grease that was already in there it kept the grease flowable enough so you didn't hurt anyting. Grease is simply oil with a thickener. n2 has more thickener than n1 or n0. I used black grease gun grease for 18 years on mine, and it is still running and has not been rebuilt yet. If you have it full of grease it really doesn't matter what kind as long as the grease is in there. gs
How is harvest going in central IllinoisIJIJ I live outside of Rockford Illinois and we will hopefully be starting corn in the next week or so, just finished beans today. looks like rain for the next 3 days! Hope to be done by Thanksgiving at this rate! We have about 1600 acres of corn this year.
I am done, but still slow overall, I didn't have much corn this ear. Way differnet from last year when we were all jammed up at the elevator in a two week period. There is still a fair amount of corn standing for 2nd week in Oct. Yeilds are decent.
yeah you guys are a couple weeks ahead of us. Most guys around here have just started corn or are about to start. If this wet weather keeps up we will be lucky to be done by December 1st. We chisel plow most of our ground still, might not happen this year!
