You will not need any weight on the back for a 4 row head. As far as a head if you want an A430 have fun finding one and if you do be ready to pay $2500 or more for a good one. I know of one that I have been trying to buy for 8 months but the owner won't sell until the combine is sold.

I would agree with SD-455.Got mine last fall.It came with fluid in rear tires.Pretty hard to jerk the rear wheels off the ground in "R" with nothing in hopper.Older short back F's with orange 4-30 liked weights on rear frame to keep wheels down.

Ed, you didn't have your eyes open 8-2-2004. Mayer's had several A430's. I push an A438 with a straight F and even on my banks here I do NOT use any rear weights. An F2, even your gasser will waddle along right nicely with a 4-30 head.

How many do you wantIJI see 6 or 7 for sale in the Ontario Farmer, from $1000 to $ 5000 CAN. look for worn shafts and couplers. If you can turn the main drive shafts more than a 1_4 turn before the snapping rolls move, inspect further. It could just be worn chain couplers, but likley is worn splines and shaft couplers--easy to see if you crawl under and watch as you turn the main shaft--but expensive to replace. Also make sure the double bevel gear that drives the rolls has less than 1_8 inch lateral movement on its shaft--if more, then it and_or the shaft is wore also big$$$ Ben.
