Two things, 1, if Agco keeps buying we may all have an Agco combine. 2, some of us don't like to work on combines all the time so we buy NH. Sorry about that last one as a Gleaner is a good combine, it would be my second choice as a combine I would own after New Holland.

Hello, in your opinion, are the cost of replacement parts for NH combines purchased from NH dealers reasonableIJ I run all Ford tractors and have an excellent local dealer that we buy parts from. Also run all NH hay and silage equipment. I run Gleaner combines. The reason I'm asking this is that sometimes it seems the parts for Gleaners are very expensive. I'm comparing them to NH parts which I think are reasonably priced. Also is the NH combine easy to repair, service, operate, etcIJ There a no NH combines in my area. Thanks!! T3

I you are not doing your fellow gleaner buddys a favor by posting such a dumb post on the Massey board. I run a JD 8820 and I get a clean sample with nothing going out the back. I looked at a Massey XP rotary for the first time not too long ago and it would probably be my first choice for a combine if I ever got rid of my 8820.

If you knew what you where talking about you would know that a Massey rotory is a lot simpler than a Gleaner in terms of moving parts. You might of had a good case going for you if you were talking capacity, that is until the new 9000 series hits the fields.

Hello T3, I have a New Holland combine and always have had AC, Oliver and now Agco Allis tractors. I do not think parts are more for NH but I'm not sure any less also. Yesterday I needed a spring that fell off the grain head and I was sure that it would cost $25-30 and it was only $6.95 so sometimes parts are resonable. Most of the dealers around here are Agco and NH so that is why I would have a Gleaner if not a New Holland combine as I like my dealers. I have not had to work on New Holland combines that much in all the years that I have owned them. Just in the last 10 years I have had 3 combines and have spent no more than $1,000 on repair. I trade for a used one with 300-400 hours and keep it till 1000-1200 hrs. My last TR-98 is now 4 years old with 1000 hrs and have spent maybe $150 total on repair. I think they do a very good job combineing as I grow seed beans, seed wheat and food grade corn. Capacity is great and I have never pluged a rotor for 10 years now. Even this year I have not had to use the head reverser yet. I think most combines are good its just what works for you. Good talking to you, Ilnewholland

Thanks for the information. It is good to talk to people from other parts of the country (and world as well). I have gotten an education on how farmers in other parts farm since I started using this web site. It seems all our problems this harvest are weather related. Up north too cold and snow, low yields around up there also, down here excellent yields but rain, rain, and more rain. Corn falling down and beans sprouting or rotting in the pod. Anyway, good to talk to you also. T3

I dont get why anyone would come onto a massey page and smart off about why everyone needs a gleaner. we once had an old gleaner M the biggest pile ever. but not as bad as masseymans combine. ours was a gem but know that we have our 9600 john deere i dont think we about ever go back to a gleaner.

Any combine can run for a long time without breaking down if it takin care of. If you service them in the morning and run them to what they are capable of doing you won't have any problems unless the combine is actually wore out. I ran a 1680 with over 2200 hours on it all fall and the only problem i had was a broken slat in the feederhouse. WE had taken it into a winter combine clinic and got some needed repairs done to it and it made a world of difference. Nick

good deal nother gleaner know it all! feel sorry for ya knowing that mf is what makes agco go and mf combines out sell gleaner, but why would anybdoy buy a gleaner when you have to put money into it just to go to the field heck have to put in updates to get more capacity well whatever all u gleaner guys do that is not for me period i will buy massey or case and just fuel and go, i don't want to spend a week putting in stuff to give me more capacity, and to try and get better grain quality when massey case, or jd all comes with it. save time yeah right we had one gleaner back i think a g or a k it was a pile of junk would never go back no matter what the cost, if not a massey it will be a case. allen
