Combines Yellow Massey combines

I think its a bad idea. AGCO is just out to swallow up anybody and everybody. Painting massey combines yellow and slapping a CAT logo on the side is false advertisement. With CAT being a big name, Claas has sold a lot of combines in North America. That was between Cat and Claas with Cat putting there engines in the Claas combine. Inturn Cat could sell there Challengers under the Claas name in Germany. AGCO is going to slap the CAT name on probably every piece of AGCO branded equipment in the US. One good thing AGCO did was bringing FENDT to the US. With FENDT's technology and German engineering, has revolutionized the tractor market with VARIO tractors.

Has anyone else besides me seen a picture in a magazine that has a picture of one of the mt800's with the hood up and in the background the roof of the cab to a gleaner combine painted yellow Also in that magazine there where other pictures of the new cat wheeled tractors (basically the new agco tractors painted yellow) with challenger label on it , then in another pic. there is a a round baler branded challenger too. I dont know what agco is doing, branding all there equipment cat cahllenger and painting it yellow. Besides i thought challenger was the name for the tractors not equipment. Oh yeah it was the farm journals machinery and technology sourcebook mid-febuary 2002

farming caseih, I visited with AGCO District man at my local dealer, and his info was that we are headed to a "Challenger" general head name for all types of equipment, the tracked and wheeled tractors, and an updated version of the Massey combine (that I hope is a better value than we see currently on the combine market). They will all be cat yellow, but will only say Challenger on the side, and "Cat Power"

With aggressive pricing, AGCO could be back in the combine business - the 8780XP with volume production has got to be one of the most economical combines to build - hopefully they don't price it with the same philosophy as they do their parts which are out in space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the difference between lexion putting a Cat engine in and painting it yellow and calling it Caterpiller Or Agco putting a cat engine in a Massey painting it yellow and calling it Caterpiller. Cat does not produce a Combine, they just market them.

There is a big difference between the Cat lexion and the Claas lexion, more so than just paint and an Cat engine: composition of material, engine, power and drivetrain (including tracks),cab interior and features, chopper and spreaders, electronics, wheel and tire options, etc. These two companies are not blind to what works in europe won't work in the US. Cat has obviously worked with Claas to provide differentiation enough to allow the lexion combines to conform to the US market. And from touring the plant and reading all information published it sounds like Cat and Claas are going to continue to work together for a long time.

The cat is a wonderfully engineered combine but in my opinon it is too high tech for for corn and soybean market. I t probably is excellant for heavy strawed wheat, barley, and small seeded grass seeds. I agree that the current relation is political and won't last long.

If the cat is so different why did the 465 we demoed 2 last fall have all the pulleys, etc stamped Claas. Other than the Nascaar paint scheme the Cat name is invisible. We made a trip to England last year and had a chance to look at the Claas. Virtually the same machine with minor differences due to the cultures. I did like the full tracks on the Claas.
