Hog Ring Vs Detent Pin

What is the better choice for rachets? I'm looking at hog ring vs. detent pin. What are the pros and cons of both? It seems like a detent pin would be a pain if you have to change sockets frequently.

It seems like a detent pin would be a pain if you have to change sockets frequently.

You've pretty much nailed the biggest difference as far as I'm aware .... detent pins have better retention, but aren't as user friendly for frequent changes. Where as hog rings are meant to be more user friendly for frequent changes, but is reliant on frictional retention (which may vary, and change with frequent use).

I also have noticed in my usage a loss of torque when using hog ring versus detent pin.
