Has anyone experimented with mixing fruits or vegetables together to come up with a new version? How successful was it? What two did you cross together? I want to experiment but I don't know where to start.

Wouldn't you need a lab for that? Otherwise, how would you know for sure that the seed came from the pollen of plant X which fertilized plant Y? I'm only thinking back to biology class. That was years and years ago, so I could be wrong on that.

That would really only be necessary if the OP is planning to patent or trademark the plant. If you're just doing it for your own use right now, then anyone can play around with crossbreeding. Just make sure you have two plants that can be crossbred and have at it. Without a lab or a greenhouse where you can control the environment, it might take a few seasons to determine whether you've been successful or not.

I've never done it but I agree that it would take a few seasons to get it right. It would be fun to try. What are you thinking of putting together? You have peaked my interest.
