@MartyR that is interesting. I can't wait to hear how these do. I have thought about trying the valley planting but haven't tried it yet.
I really don't know why we mound the potatoes but we do.
How often do you water your flowers? Hanging baskets? Perennials? Flower boxes? Do you have them all on a different schedule?
I water daily but I was told that I water too often.
I don't really have a favorite tool. I rarely wear gloves. I love the feel of the dirt in my fingers. I use a hoe in the big garden and a small shovel in my flower beds.
I love your answer @Almost Eden. That is brilliant! If it is something that they can take ownership of, I find that helps too. My children just loved to help because I put them out there with me at a very young age.
That actually sounds pretty interesting. Please share the recipe when you get it. Grilled bananas sound interesting too. We have grilled bananas with chocolate chips wrapped in foil.
We are hosting a party today (birthday). I've been getting the house cleaned from top to bottom all week. My husband laughs at me because it's an outside party!
It's funny that you check everything several of times a day. We don't do that. Well, we are watering everything twice a day (because of the heat). Our flowers are doing wonderful and our other vegetable plants are doing great.
Yeah, only annuals here in our hanging baskets. I just get tired of spending hundreds of dollars on them when they just die. I made up 4 and so far they are looking good. I did use a little manure in the soil (just a little).
Yeah, it's too early here for garden fresh vegetables. I wonder why people don't know that. You can always tell the hothouse tomatoes from the garden fresh ones.
Squash is our go-to too. We plant yellow, zucchini, acorn, butternut and one other i can't remember. I love squash! Radishes always do well in our garden too. We always plant tomatoes and corn, but they don't always produce a lot.
My eyelids feel so heavy and my eyes are scratchy! I'm stuffed up one minute and drippy the next. I'm a hot mess - I hate allergy season. There is so much pollen floating in the air!
I do believe that it's up to most small businesses if they are requiring people to wear them (in our state). I agree with Mayfield, nothing has been handled the same from state to state - why would they start now. I mean, it makes sense but it won't happen.
We have black bears in our area and they do come out at night. It is the one animal I am afraid to run into at night. We have coyotes too but you can usually hear them talking back and forth.
Congrats on getting them in! We usually plant ours right after Memorial Day. We have had great weather here lately so maybe we will try to get them in this weekend. We always do a couple of different varieties. Usually it's Big Boys and Early Birds (or something similar).
Did you plant grape...
I have numerous hanging baskets from years past. I want to make my own hanging baskets this year. Any tips on type of flowers? How many in each pot? Which ones last the longest because they aren't in the ground?
They are all new (to us). I remember hanging out clothes as a child. I loved it! We have not had the best weather so far to hang out this year. I am hoping to wash all the bedding this weekend.
Cardinals are finches? I did not know that! We saw our first yellow finch yesterday. I think it was the male because it was beautiful and bright. We do use thistle in our socks.
We do our own too. We have separate accounts as well. I'm going to try my hand at our business taxes next year. I have actually signed up for a couple of accounting classes.
We have decided to add solar panels on our farm. We just started looking into it but I'm pretty excited. It would be great to get away from depending on the electric company. Does anyone have solar panels on your farm?
