    Favorite Season

I like summer because there are a lot of nice days that I can spend outside with my family. I feel that we are all able to really relax during summer and unwind a little.

    Potato Bugs

My mom still picks all the bugs off of her potato plants by hand. I don't know of any pesticides that will get rid of them. I'm hesitant to use pesticides myself. I hope you find something that works!

    Cucumbers

I like to make pickles with the left over cucumbers that I harvest. I also enjoy eating them raw. They don't freeze well, sadly, so pickles tend to be the best route for my family.

    Never take for granted again?

I'm happy to hear that a lot of people in your community are getting vaccinated. A lot of people in my area are not, so it's harder to get back to normal. I know I won't take good health and vaccines for granted again!

How to Get Kids Interested in Gardening

I'm trying to get my family interested in gardening. I have a pretty big garden and I would like some help with it. So far, my kids haven't show much interest. I'd like that to change! :)

    Raising bunnies

From what I understand, it happens to wild rabbits as well. It's a response that they have when they are really stressed out or captured by a predator. Their heart just stops. That's why careful handling of rabbits is so important!

    Problems With Deer

It hadn't occurred to me that a hot pepper spray would be a deterrent! I really like the idea. My family is going to install a fence, but in the meantime, I'm going to try the hot pepper spray!

    Duck Kidnapping

A predator was my thought too. If the ducks are allowed to roam around at night, I wouldn't be surprised if a fox or a weasel or an owl is the responsible party. I hope it gets figured out!

    Any babies?

Our rabbit had her babies yesterday! We are planning to rehome all the bunnies except one or two. My kids are so happy that we have baby bunnies! I'm looking forward to when they are a little older and my kids can interact with them.

    Invasive Plants

That exactly how I feel about my watermelon! It would be great if the plants we want to grow would actually grow. My current management method is pulling out garlic mustard and feeding it to our pigs. They haven't gotten sick of it yet (unlike my family!)

    Mask situation is a mess!

That would be so helpful! I get really stressed out trying to figure out all the rules and exceptions. We are fully vaccinated, so we don't have to wear our masks anymore, but we still wear them, in part because it's just easier and less hassle.

    Goats need a job

I had no idea that goats eat poison ivy! I don't have goats, but now that I know that they eat poison ivy, I'll have to seriously consider it. We have a large patch of poison ivy that is impossible to control.

    Bear?

That sounds really stressful! I can't imagine trying to deal with that. Have you tried any deterrents to keep the bear from trying to get at your chickens? I've heard that the smell of ammonia keeps them away, but I haven't had a reason to try it myself.

    Problems With Deer

There's a herd of deer who think that my garden and my apple trees are their personal salad bar. I want to discourage them from eating my plants, but I also want to do it humanely. I don't want to shoot them! I'm also concerned about the deer dropping ticks in my yard. Any ideas would be so helpful!

    Invasive Plants

I think that my family will protest if we have garlic mustard for another meal! I've been looking into freezing it and sneaking it into sauces and soups. But there's so much of it, we couldn't possibly hope to eat it all.

    Invasive Plants

Do you struggle with invasive plant species on your farm? If so, how do you deal with them? I'm dealing with garlic mustard. Thankfully, we don't raise crops (just a garden) but even so, garlic mustard is a huge pain! I can't imagine dealing with it on a commercial scale.

    Electric vehicles?

I don't have an electric vehicle yet, but it's something I'm interested in purchasing eventually. I'm waiting for prices to come down and for the charges to last longer before I invest in one. Also, a self-driving car would be delightful!

    Raising bunnies

I know that rabbits are VERY high stress animals, and so when you are raising them, you have to control their stress levels to keep them in optimal health. A rabbit can die from too much stress!
