Both are solid brands, here in Pennsylvania New Holland has a more obvious presence than Deere you'd find in the midwest. For us it boils down to the ergonomics, the dealer, and the price so I'd say try them both.
There are a bunch of guys on YouTube doing this and possibly making good money. I'm perfectly content staying anonymous so nobody shows up at my place unannounced. Also I'm busy enough year round to not have the time to edit video or keep up with a blog
You'd be surprised how long well built barns will stay standing. We've got a 140 year old barn, many others around here still standing. Some get fixed up and that's nice too if you've got the time to devote to it. For that project I'd like to mill my own barn boards from the property. Nothing...
I'll be blunt here. Anybody drinking non pasteurized cow's milk is basically a dumbass asking for sickness. Straight from the cow you're probably be okay as long as the cold chain isn't broken but with every passing hour the pathogen growth increases and it doesn't take long to get to a level...
This is kind of political but if we get a Bernie type president our best savings will be in the areas of Medicare for all or government programs like that. I don't really forsee incentives for small farms that are doing crops or dairy. That's just me.
Same old thing every year. Ground gets real soft, everything is dirty, then start working on the fields. I've got a few things to fix off course like a broken bib that froze over.
I do some construction on the side during the summer. My wife works as well. All in all we pay the bills but our farm has been paid off since my parents so not having a mortgage makes it easier. With a mortgage I would not be farming. Not with milk prices being under 17 for the past 5 years.
We've done cucumbers a few times. Usually just use the ones that are sized like normal dill pickles. Yeah they have plenty of seeds but that's part of a cucumber. No complaints from me except we didn't exactly win any awards. Ours had too much garlic and eventually went in the compost. I'll...
I'm not sure but I know the high end pot growers usually use climate controlled warehouses for growing. I know the stuff will grow damn near anywhere from hawaii to the mountains though. Never grew any myself but as legalization moves ahead I bet people can make some decent money on it just...
I just think everybody is a know it all nowadays so they think they know how to raise everybody's kids. Hasn't happened to me but I've heard plenty of stories. Then the teachers in the school are basically handcuffed so the kids try to push the limits and if the parents don't set them straight...
It's pretty awesome when you find a deal and can flip it after using it for a job or two. I've also got some old equipment I could rehab and sell. Not for a profit but for a lot more than its worth sitting in the yard
