Did you have someone stand by the engine compartment and listen for any "clicks" when you turn the key to the start positionIJ If memory serves there is a starter relay in the engine bay, if that relay is faulty your starter won't work. Doc
Try bypassing each of these three items to see which one might be bad. Safety switch under clutch, cellinoid, and secondary cellinoid which are back by the motor. My machine once had a bad cellinoid and this was the procedure the mechanic said to take.
i held the key switch on, heard the clicking back at the engine, had my foot pushed down on the clutch pedal, wiggled the hydro lever, wiggled the gear shift lever while in neutral, all the lights are on on the dash,nothing...where are all the cylniod switchesIJ
Go under the front of the cab and reach for the clutch, there is the clutch safety switch. Rip out the two wires to the switch and tape them together. Try starting. Next stand in front of batteries and lift second deckplate. On right side should be the cellinoid, try arching across with pliers. Its late at night and can't remember location of secondary, but it is close to cellinoid. If all fails, get a mechanic. Best of luck, this can be so frustrating sometimes.
Clicking by the pump means the fuel shutoff is getting energized - good. Get a test light out instead of replacing parts and getting frustrated. Check for power at the starter solenoid (S) terminal - if power - means bad starter. If no power - follow that wire back to the relay, test it, and so on. Maybe phone the local dealer and get a copy of the electrical diagram for the start circuit, it shouldn't be too big. Best of luck, electrical can be frustrating or it can be simple. Check all the neutral safety switches as mentioned by the other guys. Does the starter turn the engine over if you jump itIJ
thanks guys!! i just came back in from trying all the things mentioned. i found the safety switch under the cab...broken, so i made 2 jumper wires and by-passed that..i got that scrill little beeper in the cab going..but still no engine turn-over. i looked for the cellinod (however ya spell it!) by the batteries, but couldn't find it. it's to dark and foggy to see anything tonight now. i'll start in again in the morning. may have to call the dealer out on this one..i'll let you all know when i find out..thanks again for your help!!
well i got the motor started finaly, had to short it across the starter celyniod, cranked right up. was glad nothing moved where i was standing while doing this!!. still can't find where the problem is, have traced wires all over. unless there's a mouse chew somewhere i can't see. guess i can live with short starting thru harvest. sounds like another winter project to do. thanks all for this assist. hope to start with my beans this afternoon.
