If it's the solenoid you should be able to use a screwdriver to short across the two big terminals and start the combine.

are you talking about the cageIJ we had the cage welded on a 1460 once and never had any more problems...kept it from 85 until 2000. heard of one guy locally that had to change out the cage...about a 2500$ job.

Is your hydraulic pump drive belt slipping, worn outIJ Changed hydraulic filter latelyIJ Perhaps the hyd pump is wore out.

My 1460 did the same thing. Assuming the belt isn't slipping and you reguarly change hyd. oil and filter. Do a ohm test on your foot inch pedal switch. I had the tech out and mine was bad. After I'd put a $500 hyd. pump on and changed the oil. The new $35 switch fixed my problem. 10 minute fix. It didn't fix my steering problem though. But mine isn't that bad. Once every week or so it seems to bind up for a minute.

For 240 acres it would be worth your while to pull every-other wire in your concaves to increase your separation and decrease kernal damage, the increased separation will compensate for your slotted grates. Rotor speed 350-400, bottom sieve almost wide open but not quite, clean with top sieve, mow it down at 4 mph good luck!

Thanks Jed. Any similar tips from anyone would be great. My neighbor doing the same 1083 header set-up keeps 2 drivers in 2 tandems busy hauling corn 6 miles to town. I noticed I have 27 tooth sprockets on the grain leg and crossauger drives. These appear to be the high speed sprockets. Is the capacity of the grain leg the limiting factor on a 1980 1460IJ Deer season starts Sat. I'm tempted to combine and not hunt, but my 12 year old really is excited, so the corn can wait for a couple extra days. It's easy to get to be a work-a-holic in this business if you're not careful. are you running a 6 row or 8 on your 1460IJ With a 6-row in 120-140 bpa corn you should be able to go 4 mph. With my 6 row in 200+ I'm down to 2.8- 3.0 tops yes the limiting factor is the clean grain elevator. If you fill your fan with corn you are going too fast lOl. Have a neighbor that runs an 8 row on 1460 in 200+ corn and he is down to less than 2 mph. Another tip make sure you're running either the 30 or 26 tooth drive sprocket on your corn head to slow it down to keep it from deck shelling so bad. Down here in corn country when in 5-10 years 300 bpa corn will be the norm its hard to believe but a 2388 will be the perfect 6 row machine.

I have a 1083, 8 row. If you're breaking up corn, do you slow the rotor or lower the concaveIJ Are keystock grates for separating better to reduce rotor lossIJ I notice the vanes are in the back_fast position. Is this goodIJ Thanks again. Steve
