Yes that is the purpose of keystock grates is to allow for more separation and reduce rotor loss. If you have easy acess to some I'd put them in but if not like I said earlier I would think you could pull every-other concave wire from front to back and that would make up for the difference. A little time consuming but it won't cost you anything. Ideally the vanes should be in the slow position in corn but not a huge deal as they are a bear to change in the 1400's. Have you tried picking up your head yetIJ If you never have before you may need a higher relief valve so it will pick it up. Do you have a rock trapIJ I'll assume not and if you have a standard rotor they are very forgiving and you shouldn't have any trouble shelling or breaking cobs as they have quite a range you can run in. I'd zero your concave if you've never done it that way you'll know where zero is on the scale whether you're reading from the top or bottom of the pointer, then you'll know where "3" or "corn" is accordingly. Make senseIJ I've always run mine on 3 in corn and never less or more and it always does fine. Oh and put your front feeder drum lower stops in the "high" position that will bust less ears also. You'll sturggle to break 3.0 mph with that eight row but it'll work. good luck
