The swing control arm is all the way in and the outer pulley is in as far as it can go. at this setting It is running as fast as it can. could the problem be that have to much wear on the pulleys.Maybe the belt is to deep inside the bottom(drive) pulley.

Al, Check those springs on the combine side of the bottom pulley. Should be three of them on the three bolts that hold the pulley together. If they are broken or missing the belt will ride to far in on the pulley. K.A.

K.A. Checked springs and they are ok. There is good tension on the pulley.I thought it maybe something wrong with the new belt maybe it is not as wide as it needs to be and letting it go to deep in the pulley. C.I.H. dealer is closed so i have no way of knowing just how wide this belt is supose to be.I'm begining to think they give me a defective belt.Or maybe i'm not getting enough speed coming to the pulley, the belt that comes from the gear box to the variable drive.

Al, I wonder if they gave you the wrong belt. The 1680 should have a 195396C2. That belt is 74" long. The newer ones use a 1541569C1. That belt is 71 and 1_2" long. If they gave you the shorter belt that would keep it from riding clear up on the outside of the top bulley and not giving you as much speed. K.A.

The dealer has given you the wrong belt. I have the same combine with the crossflow fan update. Tell the partsguy you want a belt for a 1688. He has given you the belt for the original fan, it is a shade longer than what you need. Had the same thing happen to me.

Al, Thats right the 1688 uaes the 71 and 1_2" belt. That part n is 1541569C1. With the belt you have on there now, when you run the fan at full speed how high up on the top pulley is the belt runningIJ The outside of the belt should be about flush with the outside diameter of the pulley. The lower pulley should be wide open to let the belt run as close to the center of the pulley as possible but not touching the bolts that hold the pulley together. K.A.

This belt is to long it rides way to high on the top pulley and not in far enough on the bottom one.I want to thank you and Ken for this info i will sleep well tonight knowing i have solve this problem. I start harvesting corn thursday and i've been trying to cover all the bases.
