MaCdon and Honeybee have just released a flex draper header I saw a honeybee and it looked like it would work well . I did not have a chance to see it working on soybeans as for myself I use a 1020 head. Hope this helps

We ran a 2062 in beans this fall and I think it is the greatest thing in harvesting. There are no problems feeding, you can start first thing in the morning with out bunching in the head. Tilt of the cutter bar adjustment is done in the cab. The ends of the header do not catch on the crop. The reel does not wrap. The flex of the head does follow the ground. You do not use the laterial tilt on the combine, just header control. We were running 5-6 MPH in beans doing a great job of cutting and following the ground.

how does a draper head workIJ Is it 2 conveyer belts running the crop into the middleIJ Are they more expensive than 1020 type headsIJ Do they come in 25' widths or just 30 and above (I have a 1680, but I don't need to be 30' wide). lots of questions - thanks in advance, Pat

do you think that i would even need lateral tilt on the combineIJ

My neighbors have 2 1680's with 30' 2062's. They had 25' 1020's and they go as fast as before. They use them in wheat and beans and really like the way they feed. They seem to hug the ground well.

The lateral tilt would not be needed. There is not a provision for it now even if you do have it.

Yes that is correct. You cann't believe how much more capacity can be used in the combine by feeding it even. The downside is price and weight. If I remember right the 36' head weighs 8800lbs. Case recommends a 12 row ready machine.

We don't have small stones, they are the size of a fist or larger here. There is a lip between the cutter bar and the belt tha would keep some rocks out. Also where the two belts drop in the center there is a small dead spot in front of the center belt that takes it to the combine, the dead spot catches some stones before they can get in the combine. Our ground rolls pretty good here. With a 1020 head we had to cut out the draws before starting the rest of the field, now the draper will flex enough to cut straight thru.
