THE REASON DEERE IS SEllING SO MANY STS TO RED CUSTOMERS IS CAllED $30000 BOUNTY. A FEW RED PEOPlE IN MY AREA (ARKANSAS) HAVE TRADED AND DEERE BEAT THEIR lOCAl CASE-IH DEAlER BETWEEN $25 AND $30 THOUSAND DOllARS. HOW COUlD YOU SAY NO TO THAT.

Green Machine, in what crops are you seeing losses on the right hand side of the machineIJIJ Wheat, soybeans, or CornIJIJ I am curious, because we have seen them in the middle of the combine with the chopper raised.

There is no problem in the beans. The problem occur only in the corn when the combine is lower on the right side.

Is the loss coming from the rotor or the shoe. If it is the rotor, do you have the new style grates that open up more area for separation. If it is the shoe, what are the rpm on the motor when you see this. We see shoe losses when the rpm's fall below 2130. The Visiontrak loss monitor tells you on the left and right hand bars where your losses are. The big middle bar is the only one you can calibrate. The other two are 'activity' indicators according to my deere salesman that are there to tell you if the losses are shoe or separator.

The lost is coming from the shoe if you are on a slop than the rotor will free more grain on the right side and the right auger will deliver more grain to the pre-cleaner and than to the shoe on the right side

Both machines I'm sure are good. You may want to consider a 9650 though. One custom operater in our area had two 2188's and traded them for one 9650 and has made out very well. He actually traded one machine in on a second grain buggy to keep up to the deere. The whole idea of "souping up" a combine is good option but why would you do it to a 2388 that is smaller and could crack under pressure, where as a 9650 is very strong and could more than handle the workload since it is the same as a 9750. That whole thing about Deere dealers giving red guys 30 grand to trade is a good idea since they probably won't go back to red.

All I know is that I have run the 2388 and was very satisfied last summer. It seemed to have very good characteristics. I'm not an expert but I thought overall it is a sound machine, However that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to test run a 9750 STS this next year. I like some of the new features Deere has come out with as far as the new header platforms and how about those air suspension guage wheels. The added horsepower will probably be an added bonus in weeds and hi yielding corn and wheat. Thats one thing I wish the Case had more horsepower and for heaven sake when are they going to come out with a new one.
