ya know it's pretty sad when you can take your grain to the elevator and they can tell what combine you are running

another thing is IF a red one breaks down you can usually fix anything on it in 3 hours (if it's major at least get it tore apart) try to do that on a piece of crap deere when your out in the field.

I farm about 13000 acres i have two 9750 around 800 hrs the sives fell apart and the i can't stand the grain heads they were always pushing dirt tried to run 30% moisture corn throught them and it just mashed it and stuck to everything Take a look around the country the red combine has been around for just over 20 years and harvested millions and millions of bushels of grain when the STS has not been around long enough to be called an engineering marvel in deeres eyes it is

This is in reply to mx270 and all who agreed with him on how DEERE used to say conventional combines were superior to rotors. That is because DEERE always believd that a combine should be able to cut in any conditions, and until now, a rotor was not capable of that. DEERE might not always be the fastest in all conditions but my 9750 STS (and the other three green machines I've owned) will start earlier in the morning then any red, yellow, or silver machine, stay out later in the night then any red, yellow, or silver machine, and eat more down, wet, green, weedy, tough, high yeilding crops then any red, yellow, or silver machine will ever come close to. Don't get me wrong, however, I think under every coat of paint is a great machine with unique and individual qualities, but until you have ran an STS for a season don't start mocking something that you have no clue about. I'll admit the STS is still young, and JOHN DEERE still has a lot of bugs to work out of it, but no other machine so far compares (and I would no from experience) to what is truly an "Engineering Marvell". Oh, and one more thought, this time to "Dakota" I have put 934 separator hours on my 9750 STS and have sustained very little damage. Besides my GreenStar moniter hardley ever working for more then a week and one electrical harness burning up, I have had very little failure in my big GREEN monster. Other then the regular problems, broken gaurds_sections, bent slats, and burned belts I have not put a wrench to this machine. However, I did, unfortunatly, have an accident while transporting my magnificant piece of machinery down the road. When the combine arrived to my dealer I asked them to put the bigger tires on the rear axeles. This would have worked out fine except for the genius who mounted my left rear wheel forgot to put in all but three lugnuts (explain that). It only took about 6 days of operation and transporting before we found out. One day I was moving to the next field, luckily with the header removed, when the combine started to veer to the right in several furocios bounces. I quickly stopped in just enough time to glance to my right to see my wheel merrily rolling down the road. luckily there were no injuries, and only half a day of down time. The employee who mounted my tire sadly lost his job and all parts were replaced free of charge.

For your info i am on my third set of STS Combines and as far as having a combine that will run in all conditions i have never had conditions were i could not run my axial flows i am not to impressed with the red combines that i have too My local deere dealer cried when i did not commit to go all green for combines and 4 wheel drive tractors but as far as having a machine that will eat acres i will stick with my cats for that you want to cover acres my friend get a CAT i dont care what the conditions are my cats will run rings around my STS which my deere dealer told me they should run right along with my cat

For the last two years I have cut next to a friend of mine who runs two 2388's. Good machines but I can't count how many times he would have to quit because it was getting to tough, or have to have one of my machines come cut something a little weedy, or green for his combine to handle. Also about your comments on the CAT, a 480 ran beside us for about two weeks last year and it certainly did not set any speed records, nor did it have the cleanest grain sample at the elevator. It was an okay machine, and there are some things on it I really like but unless the man running the machine (who has had it for 3 years now and knows how to set the thing) didn't have it tinkered just right, I think I'll stick with my majestic green beauty. All around, its just a much better, more reliable machine.
