Have seen some here in the south on f-2;f-3 and lots on m's. Works real well for wide row tobacco(46in rows) in rotation with 30in corn. tractor is on 90in tire spacing. stradles 3 30's or 2 46's. Also lots of 5-30 in cotton set up the same way.

Saw a 5 row JD head at the Iowa State Ag Engineering farm. I forget the purpose of that one. I have always wanted to go with something like a 9-30 to do like Posum does in the south. Straddle three rows of corn and have the wheels set wide enough for haying also.

I run a K with a 3-30 corn head, plant with a "customized" 3 row JD 7000 planter, and spray with the same tractor on 90" centers, spraying 15 rows. I wouldn't go on some of the hills around here with 60" centers. It keeps the combine tires off the row too. I don't think you can keep the tires off the row with 4 30" rows. If I move up in size I would like to have a M2 or M3 and 5 30" rows, could keep the same sprayer and add a couple units to the planter.
