Combines 7700 vs Pre TII 7720 s

7700's were good, solid machines,we used to have 3 of them have an 8820II now and it is not as tough and dependable as the 7700's were. not much difference in capacity, the 7720 will be alot more comfortable to operate and will have a higher resale value when you decide to trade. if the combines were both in about the same shape( and 7720 was not that much more expensive) I would go with teh titan.

I didn't notice anyone mentioning to get one with a HD rear axle. This is a must. I think these were standard on all 83's. Way strong enough now.

i have a 7700 with a 216--- serial number and it is a good solid machine, except for the hours at around 5300. watch that manual adjust on the variable speed cylinder, chains and sprocket are a real problem area. also rear axle has a tendancy to crack around the adjustable area by the knee. check the feeder house metal on the inside as well. we run a 218 grain table and a 6 row corn head, plenty of machine for both at almost 4 mph.
