What kind of reinforcing do you do to the wobble box skid plateIJ The one on my 525 head is bent side to side from going over gopher mounds or other rough conditions. Why does the hard-to-replace skid plate seem to be the one that needs replacingIJ Tom in MN

Have not run 800 but have run 500 and JD 920 heads. I felt that both fed inadequately in short soybeans. Both heads actually limited the performance and capacity of their resepective combines. Have run both heads with Johnson rockguard_grainsaver and it helped feeding and reduced losses at the head and even the back end of the machine. They help a lot! We now run Crary Air Reels. We've very pleased with this investment. They are awesome! I realize they are a big investment when installing on an "old" head. However, I highly recommend purchasing one when ordering a new head. A friend of mine priced an new 830 at my local dealer and it was $2416 extra to install Crary Air Reel rather than standard reel. In my book that is just a no-brainer. If one cuts any acres at all you will easily realize a double digit return on your money each year. I firmly believe that AGCO should buy Crary or make a "deal" with them to make air reels standard equipment. We've had one of our air reels since '89 and have had no serious troubles either.
