Combines 8010 front feeder house drum

Our 8010 came back from its updates with the same front feederhouse drum. long story short, bearings were out of both sides of drum for the second time in 350ish hours. We have a new drum with new bearings now. I have a feeling the bearings are going out because of how much tension we put on the chains to keep them from hitting the feeder house floor. Rumor has it, that the chain is suppose to be kept much looser than a 2388 so we aren't going to tighten our chain like we previously have and we'll see here in about one 25 days how the new and improved combine will feed.

We had problems with the bearings to when we tried to keep the chain tight so we ran it very loose and never had a problem

Talk to your local parts manager and ask to see a copy of the AFX8010 Product Support Kit Book. In that book is a feeder chain silencer roller kit. Might be something you want to try. They work well in 2388's....Good luck, I think the new style chain is the answer.

What do you mean by a new style chainIJ How is it differentIJ Also, different from the 2388's or a change made during the life of the 8010IJ
