Ever talk to someone who has a CATIJ The first thing they say is "the service is good". They are an electrical nightmare. A guy I found that out when the hopper extentions unfolded by themselves in his shed and couldn't drive them out.

The 36ft swaths are going to help get the cr-970 up to capacity, that has to be my next purchase is a bigger swather ,could not always run full with current 30ft.We harvested about 60000 bus. of our barley at 17% mositure and yielding about 80bus. per acre this year, ran the machine at 6.5 mph with monitor reading around 85 percent usage of power. We only harvested 30ft swaths of canola (but heavy crop)dry, combining speed was between 7 and 8 mph and only 75 to 80% of power usage. Hope that helps.

You must be from the Kamsack area that is the only place that I know of that has grown 60 bushel Spring wheat. You are right with your under ideal conditions it might do the 30 bushels per minute but it will never do 1800 bushels in 60 minutes. The reason is simply the ground speed you would have to mantain with a 40' header, it would have to be at least 7 MPH and any farmer will tell you that you will not go 7 MPH with a 40' header in 60 bushel wheat. So this propaganda I got in the mail from Cat is not telling the whole truth. Take Care and have a Merry Christmas

Big Al,(REAl farmer) yes I do know what HRS is,I was on the USA harvest run in 2002!! You ever harvested in the UKIJ NoIJ Aren't any suprises there then, you won't know what a 160bu_acre wheat crop looks like,as this is about average yield around these parts. Now try doing you Cat marketing figures with this yield!!!!

Every piece of major farm equipment is researched and built for the North American farmer because they are the best farmers in the world and are on the cutting edge of technology. Australia is about 5 to 7 years behind in Agriculture technology and as the United Kingdom I don't think they can have a 40' header over their because of all the rules and regulations. I have talked to several British farmers who have come to Canada and purchased land and the first thing they tell me is how HUGE the farm equipment is over here and I ask them what is farming like in the United Kingdom and there reply is "It is like farming in a fish bowl" The next question I ask them is are the fields as big as a quarter section here in Canada. The reply is the biggest field would be maybe 60 acres and the fields are not square either, over there I was told if you would take a handfull of cooked spagehtti and threw it on the floor that is how farm ground is layed out over thier. So you take crooked small fields and with maybe a 30' header and the Big Cat combine would do 30 bushels a minute. Yeah right and I got some ocean front propert for sale in good old Saskatchewan. Oh and for the record Big Truck I am a profesional Custom Harvester and I have harvested in the U.S. and Canada since 1989 can you even remeber that far back.

Hey Big Al I will not get into no arguments but here in the states there is a lot of of 60bu wheat grown, to be exact my poorest feild yeilded 62bu average and best yeilded 73bu average, In 2003 was all over 60 also. I would not grow it if all we got was 30. And as far as 8010 or 970 it all depends on which dealer is the best.
