I agree with you I have harvested lots of winter wheat that has done well over 60 bushels an acre. On my post I stated that Hard Red Spring wheat, where we farm has never gone 60 bushels an acre. Take care and Merry Christmas

The past couple of years the best yielding red spring wheat fields in our area have been in the 60-70 bu_a range, we farm north of Brandon, MB.

Big Al, 1.Been a custom cutter since 1989,that far back huhIJ!!!!! 2.Sorry I also forgot the guy with the biggest fields is also the best_most advanced farmer!!!! 3.You would know everything you say is fact as you've harvested in many different countries and experienced other farming operationsIJ 4.Agri machines are built for N.America to achieve one thing SAlES!!!!! 5. The Claas lexion was built for European harvesting conditions like 150bu_acre wheat with 3 tonne_acre straw content as well.Thats why when it became a CAT to achieve sales in N.A. in the late 90's it blew away any comparible combine from JD_Case_NH_Gleaner_MF in outright harvesting performance.Thats why recently we have the 9860STS_CR970_Case 8010 (I don't include the Gleaner R75_MF 9790 because they don't even figure) have all been introduced to try and outperform the class 8_9 lexions and they still have some way to go!!!! 6.The world records for wheat harvested_land ploughed_land seeded all in 24 hours where set in Europe!!!! 7. You stick to your 160acre fields and your 40_50 bu_acre yield and I'll keep my 60acre fields and 150_160bu_acre yield, you do the math!!!!!!!!!

lighten up you guys!!! The truth of the matter is that any new combine must be designed for a wide variety of conditions all over the world. High yielding wheat (160 bu_acre) in Europe and irrigated regions of California, and low yielding (30 bu_acre) in western North America and Australia must both be designed for. One needs large threshing capacity while the other means a very strong frame to accommodate the very wide headers required for low yielding wheat. Throw in corn at 250 bu_acre in the US midwest at 30% moisture and 60 bu_acre soybeans with a lot of trash (from no till). The high yield corn demands high capacity clean grain elevators and unloading auger. Milo_sorghum in both the US and Australia have unique harvesting conditions. Other unique harvesting conditions exist in South America, New Zealand and South Africa. So these conditions define the design requirements that every large combine manufacturer must design their machine to in order to achieve maximum worldwide sales and make manufacturing profitable.
