Combines 8010 or CR970

Everyone on this post are real farmers except Big truck he tried quoting numbers from some Cat combine and the numbers were tonnes per hectare and tonnes per hour. All I told him was real farmers use bushels and ares when talking figures. Just for the record in Canada we have had the metric system for over 30 years and every elevator I have ever called for prices the price is given in dollars per bushel, also all inputs prices are given in dollars per acre. That is why I made my point about "Real Farmers" futhermore like I said the start of this thread was, which combine would be better to replace two 1688's a CR 970 or an 8010. He did not ask about a Cat combine so Big truck should not even have offered an opnion. Yes the rest of us are real farmers as for big truck I would be surprised if he even owns a Cat combine or any farm ground.

Hey Big truck I have a couple of questions for you. In a post earlier you said you had been on a custom harvest run well why did you go on oneIJ And the next question what kind of combines did they runIJ Well seeing how it is the Christmas Season I would like to offer you answers. You went on a U.S. Custom Harvest run because it where you can harvest huge fields where you can drive for a day or two in one direction in your pickup and still be in one state you don't have to have your passport ready every 2 hours because you are entering a different country. You can spend more time harvesting in a day then moving from your 60 acre (23 Hectare)to 60 acre (23 Hectare),field because on a clear hot day in Kansas you can look around and see 40 combines working around the aera. And the main reason you went on a harvest run is because you wanted to see cutting edge farming equipment and farming practices. And the final reason you went on the harvest run in the U.S. is because a Custom Harvest run in the United Kingdom would last 2 weeks and cover 300 miles (500 kilometers) that is if they even have a custom harvest run in the United Kingdom

Big Al, I now just know from your post's that you've never been outside continental N.America because you are so ignorant to other countries farming practices!!!! You listen to coffee shop talk too much!!!! I went on the custom harvest run to experience large scale harvesting running one of a large number of new STS's.I enjoyed my time there and some of my friends have been back on their 3rd harvest this year.But don't get too overexcited about your "bigger than you" attitude,I can drive 10 miles from my house here in N.Ireland and see a bigger combine than I seen the whole time in the States a Claas 570!!!! Just to let you know something that you obviously don't know: Any Agri contractor (custom cutter) worth his salt here in the UK Would run both chopper harvesting crews and combine harvesting crews,so our harvest season actually runs from grass silage in early May_June,grain harvest July_August_Sept and finally maize silage harvest Oct_Nov.So you can plainly see you've got your facts wrong again!!!! Just to put you in the picture as well as I see your windbagging on post's above here, I run two Claas lexions a NH TX as well as a Silage harvesting outfit consisting of a Claas 900 Jaguar chopper (new one coming 2005) and a Jaguar 860 30f SP mower.Also have 9 tractors (JD,MF,Renault) in the 150hp Class and all other antcillary equipment.Big enough outfit for youIJ!!!!!!!

Thanks for answering my questions so honestly. But you did come to the U.S. to go on a real Custom Harvest Wheat Run. You did not mention how many Cat combines you drove while on U.S. Harvest Run or even how many you would nave seen while you were on the run. I can tell you how many I seen this year on my harvest run 2 that is one more then one. And one more question you listed all your equipment you run but do you own any farm ground because to have three large combines like that you must easily own what 3 or 4 thousand acres (1300 to 1500 Hectares). And one final thing don't tell me your harvest runs from May to Sept. In my post I stated that the Custom wheat harvest in the United Kingdom would run three weeks don't tell me it lasts six months. I am talking wheat harvest on the U.S. custom harvest wheat harvest will run from early May in Texas to late Sept.in Canada so don't tell me my facts are wrong. I was talking wheat harvest only. And for the last time the orignal question on this thread was should he buy a CR 970 or an 8010 to replace 2 1688's there was no mention of a Cat or lexion or whatever the "name of the day is" for their combine. SO why did you even mention a Cat combineIJ And don't tell me that you have to enlighten everyone about Cat combines. I am sure he has his reasons why he doesn't want a Cat combine. Just curious why do you come over and post on the Case IH combine talk show. Things pretty quite over on the Cat Talk Show.

I'm tired arguing!!!! Our combines run from July to late Sept depending on the weather,We farm 1000 acres and custom harvest another 3_4000 depending on how much grain our customers plant,we also plough,powerharrow,seed and spray most of these acres under a stubble to stubble contract as well. I have posted on all the boards since winter 2001 apart from the Gleaner page because there are none here in the UK. I thought it was the land of the free and just because I'm a Class man doesn't mean I'm not allowed to post on the Case boardIJ I saw about 12 Cat combines on the run,especially two 480R's on tracks that where with a crew in Pierre SD who also had 12 Sts's.I was told by guy's on that crew that the Cat's "smoked" the Deeres throughout the whole harvest run!!!!!

Ever been near a town called Biloela in QlD. I worked on a cattle_grain farm there for a while in 97. Great time.

since the "children" got off topic and seeing who could pi$$ higher up the wall. My 2 cents would be dealer support 1st. Myself I would lean to the NH over the Case. To many issues in the 8010 now. I would also sit down with my accountant and pencil out after tax dollars- perhaps getting more acres custom done and keep the old girlsIJIJ
