Combines 8200 fingers

Take a JD 600 series poly finger, grind off about a 1_8th" off the bottom and install. Not a perfect fit but they do work. If you want a better fit take some pvc or greywater pipe that just fits the diameter of the poly finger and use it to take up some of the slack in the finger holder. Just have to cut it with a hacksaw and drill the 2 holes for the R clip. These fingers are just a tad shorter than the hollow Agco fingers but they'll work with the thicker finger guides on the 8200 head. Where's yours breakingIJ left hand sideIJ

Not to be a smartaxx,but go buy a draper,you wouldnt take that augerhead if they give it to ya. I would have said no way but we ran one this year and they are light years ahead of a auger head. Riceman how did the 9895 work out for you. Mine is awsome. The only thing that is really really stupid,is that you have to take the pulley off to change speeds on the chopper. I cured that ,I bought 2 more pulleys and 2 hubs and made my own quick change chopper speed,I hope some one takes care of that one. That is ridiculis on a New combine this day and age. IG

Before the update they were breaking on the left side, now it is just were ever a slug hits. We ran half the season without breaking any but are now into green frozen beans and rotting wheat straw.

Well it worked out great. We'll finish up tomorrow with everything. We had some real late soybeans that just didn't mature and the frost got em so we'll blow through them in short order. Flex draper is in the works. 40 footer. 35 foot isn't enough for this machine. IG, hate to be a smartaxx too but why get a chopper in the first placeIJ Add rotor knives on the rear to chop up the straw and fodder. I wouldn't own a machine with a chopper. Spreaders and spinners only. We have no-tilled behind them and haven't had any problems. Choppers take too much horsepower anyway!

Correction; It was an 8" peice of T post that did the damage. Found it this morning in the day light. Thought it was to much damage from a hollow tube. Glad we didn't get the 35 foot draper that was on our combine at the farm show because the new drapers are light years ahead of the old model.

How can you spread your residue 40ft with out a chopperIJ I cant get mine to do it with a chopper and chaff spreader. IG

I can't get it to spread that far. Its not a real big deal cause our winters are usually wetter than areas further north and we rarely freeze up so trash tends to rot a bit more. Come spring time there's usually a pile or 2 in every field thats left over but most of it has rotted by then. If you didn't get a chopper and aren't happy with the Agco spreaders, do you have any other ideas what we can hang on there to spread betterIJ There's got to be a better answer, especially for the chaff spread. What I've been thinking of is trying to adapt something like what Deere runs on their STS combines. They are hydraulic and variable speed. Of all the problems and headaches we had when we owned a STS, the spreaders were a dream. They were the only thing I actually liked on that machine. Both CIH and Deere spread straw and chaff with one set of spinners. I'd love to have something like that on the 9895_A85's. Anyone have any ideasIJIJ

I notice that there are alot 9860 or 9870 with spinners rather then choppers just south of me. I figure they do that to compete with other class 8's rather then loosing the hp it takes to run a chopper. I was told by my dealer that we can put a chopper on the 9895IJA85 just like Deeres that spreads the chaff and everything through it. They have a couple running with them. IG

I don't feel that I really need a chopper but I would love it if I could just spread the straw and chaff a little further out. Our rotor setup chops up bean stalks and milo fodder good enough by itself. Whats your dealerIJ I'd like to talk with them about their setup. I haven't been around choppers since the 9600 Deeres so my knowledge is lacking a bit but on those you could pull the stationary knives almost all the way out so the only hp loss was from spinning the chopper rotor itself and not the actual crop chopping. They still wouldn't spread very great but on a walker machine a chopper is a must have.
