Combines 860 V 8 vs 8820 Titan II

Amen, now we are hearing "FACTS".......not just color blind BS. You are totally right no matter what anyone says. Deere folks have always been loyal to the end so......Of course an 8820 would kill everything else in the field!! chuckle Except, 1680 TR96 N6_7 and...with a bit mor HP....you guessed it!

Well thats what I was trying to say before. I've been in a field with my 860 and another 8820. He wasn't even close to being "king of the field" If he WOUlD have beat up on me , he would have tossed it out the rear. Yes I also heard an 860v8 and 9600 our mirror images as far as capacity. After running that "old" 860, I'd have to admit, I was pretty cocky about my old Red when Capacity came up in a conversation. Wish they made an "updated" verion of the 860 with a 70" cylinder_250 HP (and better design!)... use your imagination on that one!

Ive combined beside a couple combines over the years with my old 760 and theres not to many combines that have run away on it. It seems about equal to a 1688 during the day but when it gets tough the massey just passes right by it. And my uncle has a R7 gleaner and in heavy straw conditions on oats and in really big canola swathes I'm faster and throwing less out the back. I combined for a guy that had a 9600 and a 8820 and the 9600 was even with the 760.. only difference was on a 9 sq ft peice of tin i was throwing out 12-18 kernals as apposed to the 9600's 30-35. The funnies was when he showed us the rows in the feild afterwards... green, green, nothing... lol. Needless to say after he seen that he didnt complain when we brought that red paint on his feild.. the only downfall is the massey can be a higher maintence combine some years.. other years its just grease, fuel and go Massey had a prototype 70" cylinder machine (770) but dropped it when they intruduced their rotory

I agree with you dakotaboy... I think they should throw that 8680_ C62 away and make a updated version of the 760_860... 300+hp with a cast steel 70" cylinder would work for me

What makes what you and the other guy say "Facts" and but what other the two guys who also owned and operated both combines color blind BS. Have you read your own posts latelyIJ like the one the MF board about updating the MF 860. Sounds like "loyalty to the end" to me. We had a 860 and it had great capacity but it wasn't all conquering against later combines like you make it out to be.

I believe my neigbor had that machine on his farm for almost 3 days when Massey engineers were still putting it through thier tests; - at the time, he was totally "red", including tractors, tillage, etc. At the time, the machine was not "numbered" at all, if this is the same machine I'm thinking of. We live only 60 miles north of Brantford, Ontario.

do you know any website where there is info on that prototype machineIJ I would like to read on that. sounds interesting. Beginning to sound like there are more guys out there than I thought, that will verify what a good 860 will do. I really didn't know if it would cut with an 8820. I guess the physical size of the 8820 parked next to the 860 is a tad bit deceiving. I've ran my uncles 8820 a few times, but never ran it against dads 860 or 760 or in any heavy crops. His 8820 is an 87 model I think. nicer cab than the massey, but they still have the durn levers on the column like a 95. anyway. thanks for the input

if they would increase the size of that cylinder drive belt about 3 times and put a bigger clean grain elevator on it, they'd really have something.

Howdy, It would be loyalty to the end but they don't make em any more so Case IH it is! I should have stated it differently such as, Now we are hearing BOTH sides of the story I guess. I just thought they were equal machines from my exp.And from what others also have stated. but of course a Johnny fan wouldn't ever admit it, that all. Just burns my butt a bit. SORRRREEEE.
