Yeah thats a tough one to figure out...but like you said you will find out sooner or later. The rotational play that you noticed could cause it...but we've never experienced that symptom. I would just run it and hopefully you will get the rest of your crop in. Good luck.

Thanks for all the ideas. Hopefully I will have no major problems (other then the excessive rain we have been getting). Maybee (hopefully) it was just a temoprary cyl. out of balance thing. Good harvest Joe

for anyone else having, vibration trouble, we had a vibration in ours this week, finished up being a worn bearing behind the driven vari-speed pulley, would vibrate the living dayligts out of the cab, but couldnt pick-up outside, had us puzzled, till i increased the drum revs ,last night ,then the vibration increased and the penny dropped

Any chance this is due to the main output shaft bearings_shaft broke. Had 540 engine redone 2 seasons back and found the tapered end of the output shaft had cracked(fatiqued) off. Basically there is no support for the shaft on the one end. Apparently due to torque and loading this shaft the shaft takes a "little" deflection under load, and eventually will fatique crack. In the cab below the seat is a 3" diameter black plastic plug that you remove to allow the shaft to be removed by sliding out through the cab.
