I am all for conservation and alternative fuel sources. We all have to remember that its a new venture and with that we have alot of unknowns. If we jump too fast and abandon old technologies, it could cost more financially and enviromentally in the future. Its why it all takes time, car companies dont just jump on every whim because they know the cost in the long run with things like recalls, yadda yadda. For example, a car running on batteries alone that needs a charging station still needs a energy source to fuel the charging stations and the batteries are a serious disposal problem and you also drag around a bunch of dead weight all the time. Not to mention the dangers of electrocution from being involved in an accident inside of one. I like wind, solar, biodiesel, ethanol, all of it. lets just try to keep in mind that its going to take time to become energy effiecent and it will be cheaper in the long run if we try to get it right the first time. Big oil will make big money on our mistakes going forward if we make arent careful. They are birds of prey watching every move.
