Combines 9500

Is there any corn being crackedIJ If not, speed up the cylinder a little bit and close the concave some. When the corn is that dry, it should be shelling pretty easilly and the cob will have a tendency to snap at the moisture too. Hope this helps. Farny

Remove the plastic fingers on each side of the chaffer to allow the excess to drop into the return elevator

About all you can do is to maximize the amount of grain being separated at the cylinder_beater. May mean pulling concave wires and changing cylinder speeds. The machine is not designed to handle excessive amounts of straw like some of the European machines with straw kickers above the walkers.

Your walker loss is directly related to your concaves and cylinder bar clearance and condition. If your concaves are bellied out or worn, there is no way to keep the wheat off the walkers. You must use the back draw bolts to level and tighten the concaves. You must strive for almost zero clearance between concaves and cylinder bars. You cannot separate the wheat if it is not down on the separator. The walkers are merely a means to remove the straw from the combine, they are not a separating device. I am constantly amazed by the number of JD owners who do not understand the simple mechanics of harvesting.

Amen! It is amazing how many owners and operators do not understand this. I've told people much older than myself this, and they just give me a blank stare, as if I had just spoken French.

Excuse me, but if the walkers are not meant to separate anything then why are holes punched in them and augers under themIJ I do realize the intial thresh must be accomplished over the concave no matter what kind of cyl_rotor you use, but there is no way all the grain can possibly be shoved out of all that MOG in the cylinder. Just my observation...GS
