Combines 9500

If you remove all of the shoe grain supply augers and switch them from side to side they will throw the grain toward the centre of the shoe instead of the outside. Not as tough a job as you might think, but would take a good rainy day in harvest. If you do it, make sure you reverse gears, or you will drive augers backwards!!!!

Check and make sure that you have the concave inserts installed. They go on the back side of the concave on top. There are 2 rows of them. I think there are 16 inserts all together. You do not have to take them out to harvest beans. You can get to them by removing the 2 side panels ( 1 on each side ).

I have a 9500 and like it but I don't think any JD machine will be as durable as the 20 series. They seemed bullet proof compared to the 9000 series. Anyone agreeIJIJIJ

I ran my 8820 to 3500 motor and now have 3200 motor on a 9500. I replaced a lot more tin and little stuff on the 8820. I feel that the 9000 series are simpler and better to work on. less belts and chains. Quieter, easier service, motor compartment stays clean, more comfortable to run long hours in. I was nervous about all the electronics and hydraulics on the 9500, but I never had a breakdown, just normal maintainance.

Just Curious Rosco, how do the 8820 and 9500 compare for capacity, I run a 8820 T2.

Not even close. An 9500 is just a glorified 7720. In fact, an 8820 will stay right with a 9600.Maybe even do a bit more.

I ran an 8820 and a 9600 together and the 9600 would out cut the 8820 but not by very much.

I am curious as to what crops you are combining. I have thought that perhaps an 8820 would be larger than a 9500 in corn, maybe soybeans as well, but in milo where there is so much more chaff on the shoe the 9500 might have more capacity since I think the air system is a little better, but this is just speculation on my part.

Wheat and barley. I actually could get a better sample with the 8820 then the 9600.
