Upgrade to the 8780 unless your dealer isn't up to par. STS= Straight Through Seeder.

definitly go with the 8780 having only 9 belts and 3 chains while the STS or super throwing seeder has numerous belts chains as long as the road to aunt bettys house and 8 grinderboxes

Well, I know absolutely nothing about an 8780 combine, but I do know about the STS machine from the several happy customers we have had in our trade area in northern IN. The STS has helped our customers get high quality marks on popcorn and other grains, and they have outperformed the Case machines that they owned previously. Again, I am sorry that I know little about the 8780. There isn't a dealer for that machine within several miles. Good luck and I hope you are happy with your choice. Gilly

I run both a Gleaner C62 and a Deere 9610, and I was set on trading my C62 on an 8780XP; - that is, until I tried a 9650STS, now I'm not sure. The Massey is a far simpler design, and it's a proven design, but the Deere pushed an 8 row cornhead a full mile per hour faster than the Massey. I have only 4 owners locally who have been running STS's, and they all like them, but I also have an awsome local AGCO dealer as well. I'll probably stick with the Massey, merely on the grounds of simplicity and price; - the Massey is about 23,000 (Canadian) dollars cheaper than the Deere!
