Combines 9690 and Head for sale

I understand, my post was in response to your original one. Haved you priced a 9660 and if so how did it compare to your MasseyIJ

I can understand your reasoning after reading through the posts, but really, after examining both combines at farm shows (JD and Massey) I have to say Massey has the better deal going as far as construction and engineering is concerned. Maybe its fit and finish isn't up to standards w_other brands, but the ease of maintenance can only be approached by Gleaner. Every Deere I've owned or had any contact with has been a nightmare to work on and who wants or can afford to have the dealer come out very often to help w_repairIJ Could it be worth trying a 9790 before getting totally away from MasseyIJ Or maybe even the Gleaner equivalentIJ I just know what a royal pain a Deere is to work on and hate to see anyone w_a good machine trade it for one of those. Sorry to ramble and not trying to make you mad, just one Gleaner_former Massey owner's opinion.

We have the same problem here is Southwestern Ontario. I'm trying to trade a one-year old R62 in on a 9660STS while my friend is trying to trade a two-year old Deere STS9650 in on the same combine. My local Deere dealer in more keen to take my R62 on trade than the Deere 9650STS. GO FIGURE!!! John

We have been combining beside a 9690 with our tr 98 and there is not comparison. They spend alot of time fixing small problems and it still does not have the capacity of our new holland. And as far as being a new design all it is is a white with a gleaner cab.

Hey trman a tr98 is a just a souped up tr 70. If the 9690 is set up right there is very little difference and over the long haul it will run with a lot less repairs.
