I attended a technical session concerning these machines (among many other new products introduced in the past year) at an ASAE conference this past summer in which two engineers from the CNH combine engineering department discussed these machines and the process they went through in designing them. By part number, the CR and AFX are 60% common. Wish I could get ahold of the picture he showed us that circled each area of commonality. Drivetrain, cab, frame, grain tank_unload system, most of the cleaning system (some differences are there though),parts of the feederhouse, and a few other areas are the main points of interest. Threashing system, basically the important guts of a combine, are machine specific, no cross over there. Interesting sidenote, the MX and TG tractors are 65% common by VAlUE, not part number.
