They will not be close to a 72 in wheat at all! The Massey is terrible on hills. It is also not as refined as a Gleaner.

I will agree in hills with out leveling the Gleaner will do a better job.But this guy is on flat ground and there will not be alot of difference.I think the Gleaner is a good combine but I like the real simple Massey. And remember they come from the same factory.I have hills that are steeper than the Hilco leveling by 10% or more. It still puts less grain on the ground than other machines I have cut with.

Not that I would support your decision to go with another brand at all, but if you did I would choose the 9790. Just take some time and compare the 9790 to the 9860 and you will see the advantage right away, its called simplicity which agco is striving for their customers. I ran a 9790 with the 75 and the capacities are similiar on flat ground, it wont keep up on the side slops though. The STS is a high cost of mantaining, not that its a bad combine, but parts wear out and it has lots of parts. If you like your Gleaner I would stick to it, you know how it operates and that means alot, every combine has a learning curve. The Massey is a very simple harvester though, if I switched it would be a 9790 or even an 8780XP. I have heard there are some really great deals on those older models right now.

I have sold MF and JD also this fall had the chance to run a 9860_635 and a 9790 with 8 row If money is the same I would buy the Deere but realy a 9760 would be a better match

In small grains it is pretty tough to beat a R75 but the 9790 should be comparable. It might have an advantage in large volume crops because the feed house is bigger and the constant speed rotor control tends to break up slugs from windrows.
