Hats off to Mark, He definitely looks like one of us, too bad the engineers from JD, CNH, etc. do not look like the common folk. HA! HA! I wonder if the overseas Companies gave it much thought. I kind of think they will have to be contenders sometime in future. My wife bought a foreign car recently, first one for us. Folks, bro, and sis, already owned non-domestic autos. I guess I purchased auto-steer for tractor overseas, went on a 32year old tractor, because CNH can't write code properly for their latest and greatest. Kind of gets under your skin, then in another way I think we just as well be able to have choice also. Hate what Domestic companies do and spend to keep captive market. It can't be a single massive rotor. There is one important piece of information that everyone needs to be aware of when discussing and understading the capability, performance and limitations of rotary combines: Fc = mv2_r, where Fc = centrifugal force, m = mass, v = speed, and r = radius. Once you are familiar with this principal then you will understand why it would not be a practical move to have a single massive rotor. It is very simple concept. A combine's performance is solely dependent on Newton's concept of motion." and you never thought you would ever use those algebra, physics or caluclus classes in high school and college.

I think if you reread his post he said "Massive Motor" not rotor. And you are right about the rotor being only able to be so big. If you put two 2388 rotors side by side, I would think you would come up with something like a New Holland CR 970IJ That is why I think New Holland has been on the right track with twin rotors. Yup, realized it after I posted it. However, centrifugal force still remains the most critical factor for rotary combiners.
