I was diggin a little and found another photo, I took myself. I just completely redid our website, do you think I should add a birotor pageIJ www.naegeleinc.com

Hats off to Mark, He definitely looks like one of us, too bad the engineers from JD, CNH, etc. do not look like the common folk. HA! HA! I wonder if the overseas Companies gave it much thought. I kind of think they will have to be contenders sometime in future. My wife bought a foreign car recently, first one for us. Folks, bro, and sis, already owned non-domestic autos. I guess I purchased auto-steer for tractor overseas, went on a 32year old tractor, because CNH can't write code properly for their latest and greatest. Kind of gets under your skin, then in another way I think we just as well be able to have choice also. Hate what Domestic companies do and spend to keep captive market. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

scuttle butt was 2 2388's side to side with massive motor, only time will tell.

It can't be a single massive rotor. There is one important piece of information that everyone needs to be aware of when discussing and understading the capability, performance and limitations of rotary combines: Fc = mv2_r, where Fc = centrifugal force, m = mass, v = speed, and r = radius. Once you are familiar with this principal then you will understand why it would not be a practical move to have a single massive rotor. It is very simple concept. A combine's performance is solely dependent on Newton's concept of motion." and you never thought you would ever use those algebra, physics or caluclus classes in high school and college.

I think if you reread his post he said "Massive Motor" not rotor. And you are right about the rotor being only able to be so big. If you put two 2388 rotors side by side, I would think you would come up with something like a New Holland CR 970IJ That is why I think New Holland has been on the right track with twin rotors. Most New Holland combine people know Newton's concept. Anyway I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas! Ilnewholland

This combine was built and ran about 6 miles from our house. Was at USCHI meeting at approx. "96".

Yes, I would like to see a page on your web site about what you have collected. I remember that there were other pictures and the like. Merry Christmas!

Yup, realized it after I posted it. However, centrifugal force still remains the most critical factor for rotary combiners.

That's what it started out as. If you take a tour of the plant on I-80 near Williamsburg, IA they do a show and tell of the project. No cameras allowed, but they answer any questions on it.

Could you illustrate an example of how this formula is usedIJ I assume you desire more Fc than less. Mass of what, the rotor, the grain, total MOG in the rotorIJ V=speed, I assume this is the rotor speedIJ R=radius, I assume this is the radius of the rotorIJ What is more important, the radius of the rotor or the radius of the rotor housingIJ Has anyone ever found a formula that will compare rotor separation capacity vs straw- walker capacityIJ Is there any kind of a general belief in the differanceIJ
