Mofarm, I am not sure who told you that reverse bars are in to help with threshing if it still needs to be done.If you are not geting 100% thresh at the concave,then you will need to install filler bars.Add as many needed to get 100% thresh.You will have to remove them for corn and soybeans though.Reverse bars only contribute to horsepower consumption,grinding material through the grate,and the dreaded earthquake effect.Just wanted to clear that up.

I feel your pain. Take your dealer up and show him where the cylinder bars end and discharge paddles begin. Ask him how the crop can make it that last few inches to discharge without grinding it over. Bare in mind it takes a combination of the rasp on cylinder bar and the angle of helical bar to smoothly convey the crop. Maybe when he can see and understand the problem there he will listen to you about what you can find here to make them machines realy shine in all crops and conditions. We switched all our narrow rasp bar machines to the wide rasp back in the early '90s when Gleaner came with a very attractive package to do that. Only wish they would of come with the extended bars back then for then you may not be feeling this pain now. I would suggest to you and your dealer to install the wide rasp extended bars right away for I think that will give you a lot better taste of what that machine is capable of. Then maybe you can fine tune a few more things as you get time or after harvest. I also feel your pain over the lost original Allis orgin tractors. I know the currant tractors are very similiar to the Massey but the larger ones are about as much from Agco designing as they are Massey. The orange ones now all have the beloved Cummins engine from about 125hp and up. Equip them with the 18 speed power shift and they do make a fine machine.
