Are there any other grape farmers here? I've worked for a vineyard since I was 12. I bought one last year! Let's just say that 2020 was a tough year, but it was a good year.
I run a U-pick operation of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. They grow fast and produce quickly, so it was an affordable add-on to our farm. It was a thriving operation until the pandemic hit. I've considered adding grapes and moving in a different direction, but from what I've read, it's not easy to turn a profit on a vineyard. Making wine sure sounds like fun though.
I have never worked in a vineyard before, so this is pretty new to me. What do I need to do to become one? I believe that one needs to be licensed first?
I worked for a couple of vineyards when I was in school. It was very hard work! There was so much to do and learn. I loved eating them too. What variety are you growing?
