Combines anybody make a decent tireIJ

You're right, Michelin makes a great tire. We really like the 1050's on the front and the 750's on the rear. They wear great, ride great, and have a very soft, pliable carcass to minimize compaction. The only problem is the relatively high cost, especially for rims to go with them. But if you spread that out over several machines (or many years with the same machine) it makes sense. One wet year and they are paid for.

Thanks everybody for your responses. To answer some of your questions, I run an 8 row corn head, a 30 foot MacDon, and a 12 row all crop head. All of the tires have been 12 ply rated and if I run less than 20 psi the tires look almost flat. The only thing I can say is thatI run over 5mph with a full bin. I think that I might try the Trellborg tires on my next set if they will fit my current rims. The guys I used to work for had them on a tractor and had good luck with them, but I never thought of using them on a combine. Thanks again.

Many people mistakenly over inflated radial type tires as they appeal to be flat. A properly inflated radial will appeal to 'squat' or bulge a bit but this is normal and is infact what enables radials to have a bigger foot print and thus provide better traction and less compaction. Not saying that over inflation is your problem but you comment about them looking flat caught my eye.

like some else said it is all ply related. I run a different coloured machine and run at least 16 ply tyes on it,if they are any less ply then the tyres can be overloaded. David
