Caring for livestock can be a difficult task when we skip the basics. Different animals could have varying requirements, yet there could be some needs that are common for all of them. These include ensuring that their shelter is dry and clean, providing nutritious feed, and ensuring a constant supply of adequate water.

You are required to provide clean water in sufficient quantities (for instance, dairy cows usually need up to 150 liters daily). At times, supplements become necessary to meet nutritional requirements.

Don't they all require companionship of some sort? Some might tolerate it better than others, but I can't think of any that are happy alone.

True. Most livestock are herd animals and they require at least one other similar animals for companionship. Sometimes the animal can be a related species, such as a goat and a sheep, but they can't be alone.
