I know I shouldn't be sucked in, But Hey! its Christmas and it's fun to chuck "mines bigger than your" stuff around :) BGM n1 You obversely never had to clean jdee combine down after canary seed or miloIJ On that matter, you need to harvest like a cut cat to catch up to us tin tanks as it takes so long to clean the JDees out after harvesting one type crop compared to any other combine I knowIJ n2 You guys need to have the local fuel supplier guys out following behine to keep the fuel upIJ Oh hang on, you have a bigger fuel tank than us!! that will solve the problem! :) n3 For your $500,000 investment you must have HUGE capacity to get your bushels_hr_Hp up somewhere near those low hp painted silver streaksIJ n4 With all that crank shaft braking 400+ Hp, you can really, really pack the rotor very, very tight as one of my jdee neighbors mentioned! (4 or so hours later! he was going again!) (Hmm I cut 80-100 ton with my 13 year old tin tank in that time) n5 To change a belt you need to take off how many other things to get at one beltIJ Oh, hang on your Combines don't break down do they! So you just keep getting new Combine sent to you every couple of years so you jdee guys don't get dirty getting out to change a belt! ( very, very expensive belt!) Oh that could be why you have the latest electronic gadgets to adjust everything from the cab! very nice! jd just needs to install tow around behind camera out the back with screen in the cab for you jdee guys to show how much crop is been cut and drop right back on the ground, because you might get dirty getting out to check the losses, Oh its all right if your cutting for someone else, its not your crop! sorry about that! n6 If jd was the biggest and the best combine around, why do we here have tin tanksIJ or the other combine owners on the other site have red, yellow and silver onesIJ n7 Why can my 13 year old tin tank keep up with a latest and greatest jdee in our lower yielding cropsIJ (Even jd cant control the weather! sorry didn't mean to surprise you) n 8 Why is there no 7720_8820 jdees around here anymoreIJ plenty of N5,6 and 7's and early R's a couple of l2's and a l3IJ If Gleaners were_are so bad in the past and their reputation was crap, but there seems to be plenty of people who own and want to own and new Gleaner (and some jdee owners are coming across to them as well!!) again they can't be that bad! your saying that WE the owners of there them Gleaners are the ones you are really slang off atIJ therefore you slandering us, Hmm isn't there a law over there in the US that don't allow people to slander one anotherIJ Anyway this has been fun as I don't get the chance very often to have a bit of fun poking crap at a jdee owner who just plain jealous at us because we are happy GlEANER owners that can make our combines go harder that your big green, heavy over rated monster! Happy Christmas to you, and have a safe new year mate :) Rolf

Of course you are right , but, the thing little irritants like this prove is that Gleaner and Agco - and us dealers - ad nasuim - have no marketing and merchandising ability. Probably most of the people out there who are not real students who do the research, believe the old areas still exist like, no mufflers, no knowledge of the workings of the stone trap or the rock door options, 8200 headers, 4 strand feeder chains and speed options, cyl options, and on and on. More work is needed to break the news of the radical changes of the last few years out of the 'circle'. Will pass this on. One needs some 'big green machines' for a wake up every now and then. Thanks all. MC

Your right, communication is the key, Gleaner's theorys are much of whats going on today. But knowbody knows it. Much like Japanese cars, they have taken America's ideas and tweeked them and make uneducated people believe they invented it. They do a good job of deception, now they have 1_2 pickups, best things on wheels they say, took them 45years to come up with one, and to play down an old Chevy by dropping an I-beam on it, that is a desperate act, usually a sign of being beat. Cutaway models of these features you talk about should be at the farm shows, they could be crated and shipped all over the country and sit side by side of the machine they are from. They have the parts and the no-how to make a working display of these areas, you see seed meters and all kinds of displays at the shows. Oh well, thanks for communicating, Happy Holidays

I have been around Massey all my life and have a Massey combine that I think is a great combine.I have been around Gleaner combines as alot of my friends have them and have two in my shop right now.I think they are great combines too.I think Agco has done alot of good things and have done alot in a short time. However Agco has done a poor job at marketing I think that is getting better.I wish they would talk to more of us and come up with a good marketing plan. Point well taken. But a lot of people, have no clue as to what Agco is, I'd say the best kept secret in the United States.

I'd agree that Agco does a poor job of marketing. The Gleaner ads don't even mention the strengths of Gleaner: better hillside performance than any axial flow; strong frames, final drives, and rear axles; simple design that is much easier to work on than any axial flow. While you are complaining to Agco ask them to reconsider making the R55. They gave up 20% of their overall sales to Case and JD for no valid reason. The R55 is a excellent fit for farms less than 1800 acres in the hillsides of Nebr. and Iowa. late model R52 and R55 never last long on a dealer's lot compared to the larger combines. They can easily handle 6-8 row heads and 20 foot flex heads with no problems. Even local JD and Case dealers claim they can resell a Class 5 combine much quicker and easier than a larger combine. Agco should listen to what farmers want rather than concentrate on much larger combines that don't fit the smaller farmer. Build a combine that farmers want rather than a machine that you think they should have.

Just to back up some other comments on AGCO _ Gleaners very bad product promotion or more accurately, lack of promotion! I went looking for some comprehensive specifications and info on the 8200 flex header. Almost no information on this item is available off the internet and in fact I could not find the 8200 header through the Gleaner site. I had to google separately to find a few brief lines on this header which were all propaganda and very light on substance. Ditto for the Gleaner Combines and their associated equipment. Following up on other AGCO product lines produced similar results. Apparently we are supposed to apply for literature even for just a casual comparison or when seeking some simple information on the Gleaner products. For my purposes and as a casual inquiry, there was no way that I was going to bother filling out personal details for AGCO to add to their inquiries files. They may even miss out on a future sale as a result of my experience. AGCO and it's associated product web sites are truly pathetic when it comes to supplying any sort of even very simple information on individual products let alone some decent comprehensive product specifications that one can sit down and use for comparisons or for assessing whether you may be interested in that product. AGCO executives, you have some excellent products but you would have to have amongst the dumbest bunch of no-hoper advertising executives around when it comes actually putting your products before the farming community. [ In Australia we have a much stronger word than "no-hopers" to describe those responsible for your website and advertising effort! ] Quite simply, AGCO and the Gleaner's website is pathetic and a disgraceful display for what purports to be a major player on the world agricultural machinery stage.

Amen to that! They are loosing market share and some of its because they have not spent any money in RandD on the Transverse combine.
