If you only knew half what you think you know about them. You should have noticed I said "in the field" They usually have several techs positioned in a geographic regions that are ready to service. No, they don't always have to drive the full distance, but I think they call that being prepared. The longest wait I have had is when I called them at 6 in the evening, and they showed up at 6 in the morning. They have large service trucks that carry about every part that will fit on. But I am sure you know all of this already.

Greensrat, the next time you buy a piece of equipment you should look around at other dealers. I own both red and green combines and tractors, I buy both of them over 80 miles away, due to the fact that the local dealers take almost 2 days to fix something. I just bought a 7920 J.D. last month and the dealer that is 2.5 miles from my farm was 30,000 higher and his service stinks, so look around.

Buying and servicing are two different animals. I own some deere stuff, and some Case stuff. The dealers are both less than 20 miles from me and both have always been on my iron and had me going in less than a day if the part I broke is available. last fall I lost a final in my combine sunday afternoon. I parked it, the dealer sent a guy over and I was running Monday noon. This was a deere btw. A couple years ago my cyclo planter got tangled up and I bent up a drum and driveshaft. The Case dealer sent a couple of good guys up here and I was going in four hours. He didn't even sell me the planter. So before you go jumping to conclusions you might consider that I do actually look around too. Which is why I said what I did about this roll program. I have seen these things before. I know exactly how far you can fall. Sorry you can't get anyone local to deal with you. As far as buying, I usually get most of my stuff at a sale. GS
