Yes the front face does most all the work at rubbing out the seeds and pressing threw concave. Rasp is little more than just for looks. Scraper at rear aids in keeping material moving. Edge of threshing element is angled to work with helicals to move material toward seperation side. Also the spiraling of threshing elements work with helicals to move material to seperation side. The distance from tips of threshing elements to tube they are mounted to has a lot of space to allow entrance of material from feeder. Now on the seperation side the twisted pegs work with helicals for positive flow while providing large area for material to fluff and seperate. Hope that makes sense.
