I'd like to start canning this summer, but I don't know the first thing about it. Where do I start? Are there any good resources I can use to educate myself?

Internet, A&M university, local county agent are a few sources.
It is easy once you get the basics.

Ball Canning Back to Basics is an excellent read, but I bet a booklet will come with your canning supplies and that should be enough to get you going. I recommend starting with water bath canning as it's pretty easy to master and it's more affordable to start. Pressure canners can be downright pricey. I think they're worth it, but as a beginner, make sure you're really into canning before making a big investment.

Start with a plan of what you want to can and then start small this year. We got into canning years ago and eventually realized that most of our canned goods weren't even stuff we wanted.
