We travel 40 minutes to our dealer. It is something we have gotten used to over the years. My neighbor and I both have R62s and when one of us is heading to this dealer we call the other's cell phone and see if they could pick anything up for each other. It works good. If I would ever trade colors who is to say that the red or the green dealer near me would close IJ If you would trade to a newer R series Gleaner, they are much more relable and dependable than the N series so you won't be as concerned as much about your travel time. I believe red and especially green parts cost more too, so the extra travel time is not costing you more. The AGCO dealer should give you more for your N series than another color's dealer too. My 2 cents. I do wish that AGCO had a upper manangement guy that we could e-mail or call or write letters to, so we could let off a little bit of steam on these types of issues.
One of the biggest concerns is not the location of the dealer but the fact that everything has to be ordered. There are three dealers within 1 hour but they have to order everything, then I have to pay freight because the item wasn't in stock. Two weeks ago I ordered a common belt that should have been in stock and the belt was $128.00 and shipping was $26.00. That was ridiculous. Also, if you can cross reference a part it will be a lot cheaper at a Deere dealer. That's the advantage of green, if you get past the original price tag the parts are a lot cheaper.
Have to agree with sawdust. We have a R62 as well as Case-IH and John Deere equipment. We have always thought Deere parts were overpriced. Case IH parts are higher than JD usually but Agco takes the cake here. Parts are outrageously priced compared to the other two. The parts network is not even comparable to Deere's. Case is second to Deere and Agco leaves a lot to be desired. We like the R62 but due to the above reasons we too are considering changing colors. Downtime during harvest waiting for parts is a killer. For sure this is an area Agco needs to address.
The lack of parts is a dealer problem.Have 2 dealers an hour away, both stock many parts,have never had to order a part during harvest when a machine was down.Haven't seen orange or silver parts to be more costly than green or red.
We are finding that Agco prices are coming down since there is some comminality now with Massey and we are selling more volume.Do not be a victim of lower price parts sold through competetive dealers.We have tried the "will fit"parts offered by other manufacturers when repairing older units.The quality is not there!You often have a failure that leads to more component damage and you end up paying more.
We have used nothing but genuine Agco parts on the R62. We don't have a problem with their quality, just seem out of line a lot of the time. How about the rubber flaps on the straw spreader. About $11 each if I remember right. Ridiculous. Just hope nothing ever happens with the main shaft and any of it's components. Been there, done that.
