Waltermans in Dike IA is the largest dealership for CNH combines in North America. New and used in roll and lease programs, somewhere between 150 and 300 machines annually. Myself, I've seen 60 brand new ones parked in one lot. You just can't imagine that much red paint in one place. In the shop area, the south side is for 80-88 size, north side is 40to66 size.

Over on Red Power the word is that the other dealers in other states were balking about leon taking away their customers so CNH shut them down, not the IRS. Dealers are now happy, but the reasons for that are not the right ones in my way of thinking. lOTS of angry, long time customers too.

last year I know they had over 475 used machines out plus whatever new machines they sold. I'm betting this is just a rumor, most of Dike's customer's are dealing with them because of poor service from their local dealer.

That makes a lot of sense...Shut down one of your biggest retailers. Are you joking why would CNH shutdown a store that sells more combines than any other dealership in North America. If CNH did shut them down it would have been for violations with the financing side of things.

I think there is more to the story than just other mad dealers. I was told a dealer in Il was selling new tractors from there but they told the buyer it couldn't be financed thru cnh because it already was financed thru cnh by walterman. So someone was getting too creative with the financing and maybe they got cought.

I wonder how long it will take the creditors to send cooter out to round up the ironIJ I also wonder how many machines get "lost".. There was a pretty big discussion about this very subject not long ago and I was flamed rather strongly for thinking out loud that this might be risky. gs

Walterman's did not own the combines that were on the roll program so the creditor's shouldn't be able to take anything that's not on the lot. I don't think their customer's will get burned on this deal except for loosing out on the program. The loan on our '02 2366 is around $75,000 so the worst case senerio is we have to buy the machine at a great price with a good financing deal through Case Credit. Walterman's was smart enough to have the combines owned by the farmer's to reduce his risk and overhead which also protected the farmers in case something like this happpened. It will be interesting how CNH handles this dealership when they take over on Tuesday, if they aren't careful they stand to loose alot of customers who really like this roll program.

New details- leon has been going thru a divorce all summer and CNH forced him into bankruptcy. I think they realized that was a mistake in the MIDDlE OF HARVEST and are reopening the dearlership without leon under just CNH. Employees told to report to work as normal tomorrow. I guess Case has real tight security on the grounds so as to prevent theft!
