And how much did they give you to bootIJ Kidding. If you look at the numbers, the White 9700 and Deere 9750 were similar until you got to grain tank capacity and horsepower. Cousin had two 9700's and they were HUNGRY, as long as they held together. My 2 cents.

Any of you Massey guys concerned about how cheap Cat dealers are selling the Challenger branded MasseysIJ I've heard as much as $40,000 Canadian. If that is not b.s. (which it may well be) then you lose about $55,000 as soon as you drive the new Massey off the lot. Even if they hold together and perform well, re-sale has to be a problem. Has anybody compared Challenger_Massey priceIJ

My dad and I were at the Massey dealer talking to the owner and the deal was done. My dad said "who cares about resale if you are unhappy with the combine the whole time you own it". Nobody wants a STS with 1000 seperator hours on it. Nobody would even talk to us except the dealers. I am not worried about resale because in a few years I can trade with the Massey dealer again. Its a relationship that works for us. Go and buy a Deere STS and be happy with it. I hope you will be. We weren't at all. Rice is our main $ crop. Its all for seed and the STS did the sorriest job with it. It even had the "rice"package on it. The IH dealer is sorry here so our other choice is Massey. We rented a 8780 and loved it. The dealer helps us all the time and the Deere dealer says they had not had enough experience with rotors to help. I can't wait until the wheat is ready. I have been looking foward to it more this year than ever. Because we have finally got a good combine to cut it with. I don't want to make anybody mad at me but its just the way I feel about it.

Cat is buying their combines on a cash basis from agco and supplying their own warranty . They may be under cutting to gain market share to kick JD's Butt. Cat is cash rich and can afford to take a short term loss. There is still a feud between Cat and JD. Agco has a very good product in the Massey Rotary. The technology is proven and developed over 25 years. JD will never catch up with the STS because it is built to break down.
