Brian I am glad to hear you are happy with your purchase and I hope your new rig lives up to expectations. But there is one nagging question that needs a reply. Are you telling others that you made the right decision, or are you trying to convince yourselfIJ Have a great harvest. Tom in MN

Actually, 3500 bu_hr isn't that impressive compared to a Hyperized R72 that cut at a rate of over 4000 bu_hr last fall with only a few mods. Seems it IS possible to get that much crop up the feederhouse and out the discharge on that "20 year old design". And I'll bet the farm that the Hyper R72 had way less grain on the ground behind it than your Kitty. That seems to be the consensus among several guys who have seen Cats run - they go fast and cut a lot of grain, but leave a lot on the ground behind. Can you achieve 1_4 bu_acre loss in 200 bu corn, BrianIJ Be sure to calculate that correctly too - it's not 1_4 PERCENT, but 1_4 BUSHEl. This forum has been a gift from above to many who have made the cheap, do-it-yourself mods that the Hypers, the Brannons, Hurtts, and others have created and tested. And it's only been the last few years this has been available. Perhaps if you would have discovered this sooner, you'd still be in your Gleaner grining like a CAT eatin' crap like we are - that is if you could have found it in your shed since they are so well camo'd with a tin shed! Heck, I would have even sent you a few boxes of those 58 cent dust masks and some ear plugs so you wouldn't get farmer's lung and earaches all the time. I guess now all you'll have to contend with is skinned knuckles and the stress of the additional downtime when the Cat does break down and you have 10 drives to deal with to get to the problem spot. Good luck!

Sorry to hear of your drastic move but best of luck with your purchase. It would be nice to know if you stay as fired up when you get it in some other conditions and crops. To bad you hadn't seaked out this site awhile back so we could of helped you bring them old Gleaners to life. I don't know if I like the idea of one cylinder and two rotors when one rotor can do the same trick. How do two small OD rotors release grain faster than one large rotorIJ I removed the sieve right out of an old N6 one time for the tailings chain had gave up and still did a perfect job in the tank. It sounds like you still have your Gleaners if they were in the same field as the Cat so maybe you should Hyperize them and get rid of a bunch of very high payments. Have a good one.

Feeders and discharges have been fine tuned quite alot over the twenty years and I don't find them to limit capacity even with the feeder on slow in corn. I don't think if you ordered a new R72 with 330hp and equiped it properly (with factory available equipment) you would fell like the cage is going to explode. Add a couple of tweaks found on this page and you would have even more. Catch you later

There is or was a kit to help keep engine compartment clean on the first air cooled machines. Engine compartment on eff. '92 air cooled machines stay quite clean. Engine compartment on liquid cooled machines of the '90's stay perfectly clean. I hope I'm not ticking you off Brian but I think it is important for the folks to know than many problems of the past have been 100% corrected today. Maybe if you have any Gleaner blood left you would suggest to your dealer to take a look at this site and maybe he could get some strugling Gleaners up to speed. Thanks
