as far as i heard it is the back of head that attaches it to combine. some say the 24 lay flatter. most other parts are probsbly same as is all nh.

The 2400 series has of course a larger opening for the feeder, but does not have the 2 speed gearboxes that the 2200 series has on it. They are not needed since the 8010 has variable speed feeder_header drive. It also has the single point hookup for hyd. and electrical to match up to the 8010. Other than that, they are pretty much the same.

The 2400 has a 5 degree pitch foward on the back sheet to match up better on the 8010.The floor of the auger is made of stainless steel.The header control operates on a different concept. The 2200 will fit on the 8010 by removing the adaptor frame and the 2 speed gear box.

I would like to put poly on our 883,just for the weight savings. That, and the old snouts are starting to come apart, most of the hinges aren't so good anymore. I haven't ever talked to anybody who put poly on, whatever color head, that regretted it. As to the slow down kit. I don't think I'd want the gathering chains any slower. In real good corn, it can't hardly clear everything out anyway. Chads

We put CIH poly snouts on our 963 four years ago along with the new style stock rolls and they were both well worth the money. We went with the CIH poly because we bought the head from a dealer and he gave us a discount on it but if we were to do it again I think we would buy from an aftermarket company. On the CIH poly we've had problems with the sheet metal underneath the poly breaking in one place on the divider's and we had to take out all the bolts to put locktight on them because we kept loosing them.

I can't vouch for the slow-down sprockets on the gathering chains,but it might enable a person to speed up the rolls to chew up stalks better,and still not run the chains so fast.

The only thing I've heard negative about poly snouts is that if you step on the head to clean off the front window....they're really slick and you could fall easily.

Hello Oldie, I have the GVl plastic on a cornhead and just to let you know these snouts are hinged on the front where the old steel snouts would rest in the alum.casting. A bracket with a single hole and a pin holds it down on the auger end. I like the plastic...longer life I feel. later JWK

Put a calmer slow down sprocket on one of our row units this fall. For what I see, they work just like they claim---less trash goes into the combine because the units have more time to pull the plant through. Don't really notice it in the morning, but in the afternoon you can really tell the difference. What I noticed is that there is less shelling in that row because the gathering chains aren't hitting the ears as hard, they doing more of a pushing action. What I recommend is doing what I did, buy just one row and see if you like it. Just to let you know, I"m pretty sure I'll put them on the rest of the rows next year.
