Sorry it has taken so long to respond. The type of canola raised here is all swathed. It grows to 4-5 feet tall, is very bushy, and sometimes lodges. This year was a bad one for parts of the field lodging and_or some parts varying in height drastically. Swathing in a lot of cases wasn't much fun. It doesn't take much to make some bad piles out there. We always say that the guy who does the swathing should be the guy that runs the combine!

Don't be allarmed with the electronics on any of the New Holland combines of today. I've had Tx combines for several years with all their electronics and find problems are minimal. A company representative tolled me their harnesses are treated with some form of a rodent protectant. To test it out they put rats in a cage with a piece of harness and the rats stayed at the other end of the cage and wouldn't go near the harness. These new CR's are really no different than the technology that is in the electronics of the proven 10 year old TX's. The TX combine was built like a tank and really proves itself when the going gets tough. New Holland as a company would be better off today with their new combines if they would have promoted their Tx more because most of the technology and structural integrity of the cr's and cx's comes right from the Belgium built TX!!!
